CINAC – THE INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER OF BUSINESS ANGOLA-CANADA understands and values the importance of individual privacy and, therefore, we constantly work to ensure the protection of all personal data we process.

These efforts, however, must be based on a culture of trust and transparency with you. Thus, we have prepared this Privacy Notice (“Notice”) to help you understand what information we collect about you, why we collect it, and how we share it. Additionally, we also inform you here about your rights related to this information and how to exercise them with CINAC.

In case of doubts, we provide an appropriate contact channel at the end of this Notice. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

DEFINITIONS

Personal Data: Any information that identifies or can identify a natural person, for example: name, date of birth, marital status, email, landline and mobile phone, home address, bank details, or physical, economic, cultural, or social characteristics.

Personal Data Processing Officer (“Officer”): Person appointed to act as a communication channel between CINAC, the data subjects, and the Data Protection Agency (“DPA”).

Processing: Any operation with personal data, including collection, reception, classification, use, access, reproduction, transmission, distribution, processing, archiving, storage, deletion, evaluation or control of information, modification, updating, communication, transfer, sharing, and extraction of personal data.

WHAT PERSONAL DATA DO WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU?

The information we collect about you is only that which is compatible and necessary to enable your relationship with us, for example, as a member, client, mediator, expert, supplier of products or services, employee of a business partner, user of one of our websites or mobile application, among others.

Grouped into categories, below we present the main ones:

  • Identification information, such as your name, passport, gender, age, date of birth, marital status, nationality, among others;
  • Information that helps us contact you, such as home address, landline or mobile phone, and email;
  • Financial information;
  • Professional information, such as occupation, workplace, position, professional history, academic qualifications, diplomas, and other certification, language proficiency, among others;
  • Attributes associated with your electronic devices, such as internet service provider, operating system, Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser, access date and time, pages viewed, among others; and
  • Information concerning your image, such as photos and videos.
HOW DO WE COLLECT YOUR PERSONAL DATA?

From the beginning of your relationship with us, you voluntarily provide us with information about yourself, for example, by contacting us through the telephone number +244 936 469 284 or via the email address [email protected].

Occasionally, we may also automatically collect data from the electronic devices you use to access our websites or mobile application, for example, to improve and personalize your browsing experience. Some of this data may be collected through cookies or similar technologies, as explained in a specific section below.

Finally, we may collect information about you that is publicly available, including but not limited to social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA?

We process your personal data to meet the purpose for which you provided it to CINAC or for other purposes compatible with these and informed to you at the time of data collection. For example, we may process your personal data to allow you to enjoy the various activities developed at our institution, or to enable your participation in one of our events, among others.

We may also use your personal data to comply with our obligations imposed by law, regulations of government bodies, tax authorities, and/or other competent authorities.

Based on our legitimate interest, we may also process your personal data to enable our daily activities, always observing the limits of your expectation and never to the detriment of your rights or fundamental freedoms. For example, to conduct a satisfaction survey with our clients and thus monitor the quality of our services.

Ensuring your security (and that of third parties), we may also process your personal data to control access to our premises and prevent identification fraud in this access.

Finally, even after the end of your relationship with us, we may process some of your personal data to comply with our legal or regulatory obligations, or to exercise our rights guaranteed by law, including as evidence in judicial, administrative, or arbitration proceedings.

In all these cases, ensuring your privacy, we will use contractual instruments to ensure that third parties who receive your data provide adequate protection.

Occasionally, the third party with whom your data is shared may be located outside Angola, for example, in Canada, China, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates.

HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR DATA SECURE?

We adopt strict policies and procedures that determine how personal data should be handled here at CINAC. These rules aim to ensure the proper and lawful processing of the personal data we hold.

Additionally, we also adopt numerous technical measures to keep your personal data secure and protected from unauthorized access and accidental or unlawful situations of destruction, loss, alteration, communication, or any other form of improper or unlawful processing, always in light of applicable data protection and information security rules.

HOW CAN YOU EXERCISE YOUR RIGHTS?

Regardless of your relationship with CINAC, we ensure that all your rights related to the processing of your personal data will be respected. These rights include, but are not limited to:

  • Knowing whether we carry out any processing with your personal data and, if so, knowing what data we process;
  • Correcting incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated data, by the means required by specific regulations, when necessary;
  • Requesting the anonymization, blocking, or deletion of unnecessary, excessive data or data processed in non-compliance with the law;
  • Requesting the portability of data to another supplier of products or services;
  • Requesting the deletion of data collected and used based on your consent;
  • Obtaining information about the public or private entities with whom we share your data;
  • When the processing activity requires your consent, you can refuse to consent. In this case, we will inform you about the consequences of this decision;
  • When the processing activity requires your consent and you choose to provide it, you may revoke it at any time;
  • Requesting the review of decisions made solely based on automated processing of personal data; and
  • Opposing processing activities that, by chance, have been carried out in non-compliance with the law.
